Everyone blames the butler.Arthur Ramsey is an undecided student, ex golf caddie, and more than a little bit lost. It's not that he wants to live between classes, friend's couches, and his mum's house forever, it's just difficult to get noticed in a city as big as London. So when his sister's work lands Arthur a position as a butler working for a snobbish social climber and her recluse brother, Arthur takes the job out of sheer desperation. A temporary fix, just something to hold him over until he can get a real job and his own flat again. Until his boss is murdered. Thrown into the spotlight, Arthur finds himself at the center of a murder investigation, as the chief suspect. It soon becomes clear that if he wants to stay out of prison, he's going to have to get to the bottom of things himself. Unfortunately, as he delves into the history of his employers and begins to untangle the threads of the case, they all lead to one person: him. Arthur is determined to defy the cliché and show the police that the butler didn't do it. But the deeper he goes, the more complicated the workings of high society and cutthroat business become, and the clearer it gets that more than one force is working to bury the investigation, with more bodies if need be. He needs to get to the bottom of the mystery before the next victim falls to the killer—because it just might be Arthur himself. |
