The Rajo Scheme (Nano 2012)
Eliza "Eli" Marshal, Jack Hamilton, and Nora Morgan are part of a long term mission in Somalia, Africa for Reach, a Charity based in the U.S. The Somalia of 2017 is under a strict and unfair military rule. Luckily for the charity it is allowed to continue its efforts in Somalia under this rule but must contribute an unreasonable amount of money every six months. Reach has scrapped by for the past two years but as the next deadline approaches they know they do no have sufficient funds to continue under these conditions. This is something Eli simply cannot stand for as she returns to the states to do some fundraising in attempt to keep the mission afloat. While at a fundraising dinner for another charity an idea strikes her. Eli quickly pulls together every thing she has and calls in every favor she can think of and when she is finished a week later she has opened the newest "must be at" restaurant in New York city, The Rajo. At the Rajo Eli serves all of the things the people of Somali eat purposely picking out the least desirable and serving them as "delicacies". No one in High society New York will admit they absolutely despise the the food and they keep going because every one else is. Meanwhile the military moves up their deadline and threatens Jack and Nora, a reporter comes who isn't afraid to share his opinion on Eli's food, and a deceitful charity attempt's to sabotage Eli's efforts at the Rajo after she learns their secret.
Out on a Limb (Nano 2011)
For as long as anyone can remember, they have lived in the Golden City within Talana also know as the world tree, which really IS the entire known world. Now Talana is dying. The royal mages are trying revive the tree with magic, but looking for a new hope, as they tell there people, they assemble a band of explorers whose mission is to find a new home for the people of the Golden City, in case a mass exodus should prove necessary. Most of the explorers realize that it's a suicide mission, but for whatever personal reasons, they accept.
As it turns out, however, the world tree is just one in a forest...who knows what strange things lurk in these other trees--or, for that matter, on the forest floor?
The world is suddenly a much bigger place with many more things then any of the explorers could have imagined; air nomads roam the sky, other strange creatures roam the ground, some friendly...and some not so
friendly. Soon the group discovers that war is near for the people living outside of the world tree and not only that this war could very likely destroy the world tree. The explorers must get back to warn everyone, but will everyone want to leave? And is there a secret the royal mages have been keeping from even the king?
